What are the different styles you offer?
Our goal is to produce images that make you feel beautiful, powerful, and (if you feel so inclined) sexy. How we get there doesn’t matter. Boudoir, pin-up, and Shibari are our primary areas of focus, but we’re happy doing whatever you need or whatever brings you joy.
I’m younger than 30 but I love your work, can I still work with you?
Absolutely! But if you’re underage, a parent or guardian needs to be present for the shoot and we’re keeping it super wholesome.
Do I need to be nude or in lingerie for the boudoir?
No. Nudity and lingerie are great fun, but we understand that’s not for everyone. Moreover, nudity has surprisingly little to do with what makes someone beautiful, sensual, or sexy. There are limitless alternatives to nudity and lingerie and clients are free to wear as much or as little as they like. You’re also free to change your mind mid-shoot (and, as you start getting into it, you very well might).
How naughty can I be?
Mild and conservative images are wonderful, but if you feel like unleashing your inner-exhibitionist, feel free. Our focus will always be on making art rather than anything approaching porn, but things can get pretty explicit and remain classy if done properly.
What if my version of naughty involves kink or fetish?
Now we’re talking! Visit us at www.knottyphotos.com and learn more about the other side of our business.
Do you shoot couples?
Yes. And we don’t really care about the gender of you or your partner or what either of you wears.
Do you do nude/explicit couples shoots?
Yes. Within reason. And we’re happy to have that conversation.
Do you shoot men?
Yes. Portraits, headshots, and couples shoots are no problem. We’ll do a solo boudoir for men as well, but that is not a primary area of focus. If you think you’ll need a lot of help with posing and styling, we’re going to have to rely more heavily on reference shots than we otherwise would.
Can we do the shoot at my home?
Yes. And if you have a cool space, that’s a great way to get unique shots. We will ask you to send us photos or a video of the space in advance and give us an idea of where the light hits and when so we can plan properly and make recommendations on making the space more photo-ready.
Where is your studio?
The world is our studio. The location for your shoot can be your home, a hotel, an Airbnb, the great outdoors, or anywhere we choose. Because we are in Oregon, where nudity is a form of protected speech, we can even do shoots involving public nudity if that floats your boat.
Can I bring someone to my shoot?
If you are more comfortable having someone with you, by all means (bonus points if you bring. someone who also wants to be photographed – tag-team shoots can be a blast). Keep in mind that another person on set is likely to impact the dynamic of the shoot. Sometimes this is a good thing, but that’s not always the case. If your chosen companion feels the need to be overly “helpful” or causes you to become self-conscious or inhibited, we’ll recommend they wait outside.
How do you charge?
Most of the time you pay for the shoot and applicable hard costs such as makeup and hair, then digital images/prints are purchased separately. We also offer packages where the shoot and a number of digital images are included.
A 50% deposit for shoot and makeup fees is required to secure your time slot. Your shoot fee covers up to $100 in location costs (if applicable). You will be responsible for the rest of the location costs.
If we can schedule multiple shoots in the same location, location costs will be split among all clients.
How long will it take?
Makeup and light hair styling normally take about an hour. The shoot can take an hour or two (perhaps longer). We care more about getting great images than rushing, so if it takes a little longer and everyone is still into it, we’ll keep going until we’re done.
Can I give you examples of what I want to do?
Yes. Going over images is an important part of getting ready for the shoot.
What if I don’t like my photos?
Chances are, this won’t be an issue. But if you don’t, you’re not obligated to purchase them. If you don’t like them because we did something wrong, we’ll offer you a reshoot.
How do I get my images?
Digital images will be made available for download. Prints and photo books will be delivered in person.
What is your cancellation policy?
Things happen and, occasionally, it may be necessary to reschedule, which is something we can do with a little notice. No-shows or multiple reschedule with no or little warning will forfeit their deposit.
Who sees my photos? How do I know they won’t be posted online without my consent?
You control who sees your photos. Some of the best shots we’ve ever taken have only been seen by the person in them and whomever they have chosen to show. We don’t post or even show your images to potential clients without your express permission. Trust is a key component in this business and it’s something we take very seriously.
